Yabotlhe Motor Lite cover is a low-cost motor insurance cover designed specifically for imported vehicles and second-hand vehicles. It offers essential protection at affordable premiums.

Who Qualifies for This Cover?

• Vehicles older than 5 years
• Not under any finance agreement
• No longer covered by manufacturer's warranty, service plan, or motor plan
• Vehicles valued up to P100,000

Coverage Details

• Own Damage (Section A): Covers 40% of repair costs for partial losses (less applicable excess)
• Write-Offs: If repair costs exceed 75% of insured value, vehicle is written off. You receive the lesser of sum insured or market value, minus excess
• Third Party Liability (Section B): Covers liability for damage, injury, or death up to P1,000,000
• Theft & Hijacking: Covered as total loss, subject to P100,000 maximum indemnity (less excess)
• Towing: Covered up to P1,000 within Botswana to nearest police station and/or panel beater

How Much Does It Cost?

• Premium Rate: 2.00% of vehicle value
• Annual Premium: Minimum P1,500
• Monthly Premium: From as little as P125

Excess Payments Required

• Standard Excess: 5% of claim (minimum P1,500)
• Drivers under 25 years: Additional P1,000
• Drivers with less than 3 years' experience: Additional P1,000
• More than one claim within one period: Additional P1,000
• Single vehicle accident (except hitting an animal): Additional P1,000

How Repairs Are Handled

• Two quotations are submitted for vehicle damages
• No repair authorizations required
• Settlement is by cash-in-lieu at 40% of repair quote
• You get a payout to repair your vehicle
• Insurer may request independent estimates if quotes are above market rates

Exclusions

• Vehicles still under manufacturer's plans
• Use for hire or reward (e.g., taxis)
• Vehicles used for business purposes
• Replacement vehicle hire/loss of use
• Windscreen claims
